AltTexty runs a one-time background scan to extract post titles and keyphrases for images already attached to posts.
This builds a “context map” so SEO Context settings can apply not just to new uploads but also your entire Media Library.
The process is automatic via a scheduled cron event, and you can track progress on the settings page.
Why the SEO Context? #
Alt text is most effective when it reflects the context of the post or page, not just the image itself. That’s why AltTexty builds a “context map” — linking your images with the titles and keyphrases (the topics they belong to).
With this foundation, the SEO Context ensures:
- Relevant alt text generation – Your images aren’t just described in isolation but connected to the content they support.
- Consistent optimization – Whether it’s a brand-new upload or an old image in your library, alt text stays aligned with your content strategy.
- Smarter automation – By understanding post-level context, AltTexty can automatically generate meaningful descriptions that improve accessibility and search visibility.
In short, the SEO Context is what turns simple alt text into a powerful SEO and accessibility tool across your entire site.
Keep in Mind:
If you have autogeneration enabled on upload, SEO Context won’t apply right away. That’s because the image needs to be attached to a post before it can pull in titles and keyphrases. Once attached, the relationship is created and context-based optimization works as intended.
